SriLankan Airlines - Announcement following the series of explosions that occurred in Sri Lanka - 21st April 2019



Colombo, 0725hrs(GMT+5.5) April 21, 2019:

Citing the official sources, SriLankan Airlines wishes to inform that following the series of explosions that occurred in three Churches in Colombo, Batticaloa and Negombo during the Easter Sunday masses and three five-star hotels in Colombo, 138 people are reported killed and 402 people are injured, among which are foreign nationals.

While the authorities are conducting investigations to ascertain their nationalities, SriLankan Airlines wishes to reaffirm its care and attention to all passengers.

The Airline has already informed passengers who are scheduled to depart Colombo today to arrive at the Airport four hours prior to departure, as the security at the Bandaranaike International Airport has been tightened.

Whilst the Airlines expresses its sincere condolence to families and loved ones of those affected by this extremely unfortunate incident, the National Carrier ensures that all measures are taken to ensure the safety of its passengers, which is its topmost priority.
