Do you have a special dietary requirement?

We at SriLankan Airlines aim to cater to all your needs including the provision of special meals on request for those who have particular dietary requirements. Our extensive range of special meals are prepared or purchased from approved sources on request to allow you an enjoyable culinary experience while on board.

Your special meal request should be placed at least 48hrs prior to flight departure, to reserve, please contact the nearest Ticket Office, our Global Contact Center or your respective travel agent.

If you have any concerns or requests regarding allergens, nut-free environments, or meals, please view our policy before your flight.

Dietary and Medical Meals



Fruit Platter Meal (FPML)

This meal mainly contains seasonal fruits and is suitable for passengers who are fasting or having special dietary needs.


Gluten free meal (GFML)

This meal is suitable for passengers requiring a gluten-free diet. However, we do include milk and dairy products, eggs, meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, rice and corn which are free from gluten.


Low fat meal (LFML)

This is a polyunsaturated fat diet. The meal consists of food containing a greater proportion of fiber and essential nutrients. It does not contain butter, cream, egg yolks, fried food and shellfish.


Non-lactose meal (NLML)

This meal is suitable for passengers who are lactose-intolerant, no dairy products such as butter, cheese, cream, yoghurt, casein, whey, skimmed milk, non-fat milk solids and other milk derivatives are used in preparation of this meal.


Diabetic-Friendly Meal (DBML)

This is suitable for passengers with diabetes or requiring a nutritionally balanced meal low in sugar. Sugar substitutes are used when necessary.


Religious Meals



Hindu non-vegetarian meal (HNML)

This is a spicy and aromatic non-vegetarian meal prepared according to Hindu religious customs. Does not contain beef, pork or any of its by-products.


Kosher meal (KSML)

This meal is prepared according to Jewish customs in a certified Kosher kitchen. (Available on all flights except those operating to Middle Eastern destinations)


Halal meal (MOML)

The preparation of this meal is in accordance with the Islamic tradition and custom. Does not contain pork or any of its by-products. (All meals catered out of Colombo and other direct network stations are Halal certified except for Bangkok, Incheon, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney.)


Child and Baby meals



Kids meal (CHML)

This is a non-spicy meal prepared with care for our young travelers between the ages of 2 to 12 years. The standard is a non-vegetarian meal, however, a special request can be placed for a vegetarian option by contacting the nearest ticket office or our Global Contact Center.


Infant / baby meal (BBML)

A standard quantity of processed baby food is available on all SriLankan long-haul services on request. Special baby meals should preferably be requested at the time of booking. Specific brands of milk powder and other infant food requirements must be carried onboard by the parent as necessary.


Vegetarian Meal



Asian / Hindu vegetarian meal (AVML)

This is a spicy and flavorful vegetarian meal which mainly includes rice, curry and a limited amount of dairy products. Does not contain any meat, fish or egg items.


Vegetarian Jain meal (VJML)

This pure vegetarian meal is prepared for members of the Jain community. Excludes any root vegetables such as ginger, garlic, onion, potato, carrot, beet and radishes. Contents are restricted to fresh fruits and stem vegetables that grow above the ground.


Vegan vegetarian meal (VGML)

A continental menu with the inclusion of plant derived food products suitable for all vegans and vegetarians; cereals, vegetables, fruits, pulses, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, yeast extracts and soya are used in this meal. Meat, poultry, fish and shellfish are excluded from this meal. Meat by-products such as lard, suet, gelatine, meat stock and gravy are also avoided. There are no dairy products and no eggs in this meal.
